A few years back, a coalition of students, staff, and faculty at UIUC and in the Urbana-Champaign area was formed to address issues of racism, prejudice, and discrimination on campus and in the larger community. That coalition is I-RESIST.

I-Resist has a dynamic multi-media website. Take a look at footage from the field hearing at the I-Resist website.

Look thru the entire site. There's a lot to see, a lot to learn.

I was genuinely disappointed to hear our representatives conduct themselves in such a dishonest and undermining manner. Some of the comments and the level of respect (or lack thereof) paid to the subject matter was disheartening. NCAA Representative Bernard Franklin, Danny Davis and Steven Kaufmann had to restate the obvious.

It seems that the money and power behind the scenes that coordinated this meeting will stop at no end to distort the truth.

The ugliness that permeated throughout this session was unbelievable. A representative comment was that of Mr. Ehlers when he stated that the heirs of the Illinois Natives were virtually extinct in order to convey the opinion that their wishes would somehow be impossible to assess.
